Located in what was once part of the Abendroth Stove Foundry, where stoves, iron yard ornaments and cooking pieces were manufactured until 1900, Tarry Market honors the craftsman of the past as well as neighborhood customers who recognize the value of choosing goods made by hand, with quality and care.

The design concept for the brand and its related packaging was to develop a bold aesthetic which was a hybrid of Italian and American typography and printer’s ornaments.

For Tarry Market, this meant referencing the all-over patterns from American printing of the late 19th century. It meant an attention to detail which was consistent with the owners’ holistic approach to hospitality.
